How to Find a Badminton Club in the UAE (and Actually Join One)

How do you find a badminton club in the UAE? Most clubs are informal community groups rather than formal memberships — you find them through WhatsApp and Facebook groups, workplace circles, and word of mouth, then simply turn up to a session and share the court cost.

Where the groups gather

  • WhatsApp groups — the backbone of UAE badminton. Ask around your building, office or community; there is almost always a group with a weekly slot.
  • Facebook & Meetup — search your emirate plus "badminton" for open groups welcoming new players.
  • Workplace and community clubs — many companies and residential communities run their own weekly games.
  • At the venue — regulars at any court can usually point you to a group that fits your level.

What to expect on your first session

Doubles is the norm. You will rotate in and out so everyone gets game time, and players are usually happy to mix across levels. Bring indoor court shoes (non-marking soles), water, and your own racket if you have one — some groups have spares. Expect to pay a small share of the court fee, split between everyone who shows up.

Etiquette that makes you welcome back

Reply to the poll so the organiser knows numbers, arrive on time, pay your share promptly, and rotate off graciously when it is someone else's turn. Groups love reliable players far more than flashy ones.

Running the club side of things

If you end up helping organise, Badminton 360 handles the admin for free — attendance polls, fair rotation, Elo rankings and automatic fee-splitting — so the organiser can just play.
